Old appliances are collected free of charge by a national service — 폐가전 무상방문수거 (pyegajeon musang bangmun sugeo).
How to book
- Phone: 1599-0903 (weekdays) — or online at 15990903.or.kr.
- You get a pickup date; the driver contacts you the day before.
- Built-in appliances must be detached first. Items that need a ladder truck or crane may not be collected.
What qualifies
- One item is enough for large appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, TVs, air conditioners, microwaves and air purifiers.
- Small appliances need five or more together (vacuum cleaners, humidifiers, heaters, air fryers…). Fewer than five: use the small appliance collection box at the 주민센터 or your apartment complex.
Not included
Electric blankets and heated mats, massage chairs, exercise machines other than treadmills, gas stoves and medical devices are handled as large waste.
When you buy a new appliance, the shop usually takes the old one away on delivery.
